Repiping Older Fort Lauderdale Homes
If you're on your second or third pinhole leak this year, or your water runs brown after a vacation, the pipes themselves may be reaching the end of their life. This is common in Riverland, Melrose Park, Croissant Park and much of Davie, where original mid-century plumbing is still in service.
Signs it's time to repipe
- Repeated pinhole leaks in copper lines
- Low pressure and rusty water from galvanized pipe
- Visible corrosion or green or white crust on exposed fittings
- Slab leaks that have already been repaired once
What a repipe involves
We map the existing lines and propose a route, usually through the attic and walls rather than under the slab. PEX or copper are the common choices and we explain the pros and cons of each for your home. Most homes are done in phases so you are without water only for short periods, and we patch the access openings afterward.
Partial or whole-home?
If only one branch is failing, a partial repipe may be enough. We will tell you honestly when a repair makes more sense than replacement.
